Ready for Mother’s Day?

Most mom’s don’t need much.

Just a little something to let her know she’s appreciated.

I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for handmade ceramics – tableware or tile.

There’s something so charming about the small imperfections that result from the artist’s hand.

-

Right now I am crushing hard on the work of Lindsay Emery of Suite One Studio.

Bowls, platters and cups glazed in the most beautiful colors.

They make my heart flutter.

Le sigh.

The Pink Cup Set picture above is for sale here.

And you can see more of her work here.

Bon weekend!

In France, on May 1st they celebrate La Fete du Travail.

Tradition dictates that you present loved ones with nosegays of lily of the valley -

for good luck and to celebrate the arrival of spring.

-

The Brits insist that washing your face with the May Day morning dew will beautify your skin.

-

For me, a poem to celebrate May Day.

Another Spring

by

Kenneth Rexroth

-

The seasons revolve and the years change

With no assistance or supervision.

The moon, without taking thought,

Moves in its cycle, full, crescent, and full.

-

The white moon enters the heart of the river;

The air is drugged with azalea blossoms;

Deep in the night a pine cone falls;

Our campfire dies out in the empty mountains.

-

The sharp stars flicker in the tremulous branches;

The lake is black, bottomless in the crystalline night;

High in the sky the Northern Crown

Is cut in half by the dim summit of a snow peak.

-

Oh heart, heart, so singularly

Intransigent and corruptable,

Here we lie entranced by the starlit water,

And moments that should each last forever

-

Slide unconsciously by us like water.

We’re expecting snow tomorrow!

Just a little reminder that it is still spring.

It’s Easter weekend.

We’ve planned two days full of egg hunts, chocolate bunnies and celebrating all things spring.

How about you?

-

I adore this photograph rabbit no. 0039 by Kari Herer.

You can see more of her work here.

Spring?

Is that you?

I’m so glad you’re finally here.

Please make yourself at home.

This print by Brittany Burton could brighten up any cold March day.

-

This weekend I am planning to sleep late, meet with a few clients, make mounds of this salad, watch The Tree of Life and indulge my latest obsession – Bikram yoga.

-

What are your plans for this early spring weekend?

-

You can find the print here and see more of Brittany’s work here.
