I’ve got something serious to admit.

Brace yourselves.

-

I’ve been listening to a lot of Hall & Oates recently.

All I have to say is don’t knock it till you try it.

Might put a smile on your face.

-

You can listen to my top H&O choices here.

-

And for the record, I blame all of this on Band of Horses.

Now that the infiltration of holiday music has ended, I’ve got three albums on heavy rotation. Two are relatively new releases and one is an old favorite.

-

If there’s one thing my daughter and I agree on when it comes to music, it’s Leslie Feist. I could listen to this woman all day long, and her new album is no exception. And if I get bored with her solo work, then I listen to Broken Social Scene – equally as good. My daughter was introduced to her via Sesame Street and regularly asks to watch the Mushaboom video. One day, we’ll go see her together. I’m determined that it will be our first mother-daughter concert.

-

This album is a few years old, but I come back to it over and over. Cat Power’s got some serious soul. I love. love. love. this album. It might be one of my all time favorites.

-

My daughter and I agree on Feist, and my husband and I agree on Real Estate. I’m digging their new album. Can’t get enough.

-

You can listen to all three of these albums on Grooveshark for free.

I’ve got a very soft spot in my heart for Christmas music. I really, really love it. I pretty much listen to it nonstop from Santa’s arrival in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade until midnight on Christmas Day.  I just can’t help myself. It may or may not drive my husband batty.

This year I am most excited about the new She & Him Christmas album.

Have you heard it? I think you’ll like it too.
