It’s February. Guess what that means?
You don’t have to hear me go on and on about organizing my home anymore!
I may or may not be done with my cleaning spree (there are a few more spots in my house nagging at me), but I promise to leave you alone about your home. Clean, dirty, messy or perfect … your home is yours, love it.
-
Let me leave you with a couple parting thoughts on the subject.
-
1. Don’t wait to start your organizing spree until you have a whole day or a whole weekend. Sometimes it only takes 15 minutes to make a big difference.
-
2. Organize a space specifically designed for you. If you need 87 pairs of jeans to function – don’t get rid of any. If you’re too attached to your Star Wars sheet sets from childhood – keep them. If you want to store recipes in a binder rather than a box – do it. The whole idea behind being organized is that it will help you to live more efficiently and give you a sense of calm. Make sure any changes you are making work for you and your home. Don’t just do it because some design blogger/magazine maven/professional organizer tells you to.
-
On to another topic … if there’s one thing I love about my job it’s the fabrics I get to work with. I seriously cannot get enough of gorgeous fabrics. It’s often the first thing I pull from when I start a project – I find them to be so inspiring. It’s not unusual for me to base an entire room on one fabric.
-
Well, my fabric trove was getting a bit out of hand. I just don’t have the storage space to keep every fabric I love. This weekend I tackled my fabric piles. And they were just that – piles. I should have taken a before picture. Just imagine your laundry room at then end of the week, but instead of heaps of clothes it was fabric samples. I narrowed my hoard down to my favorites and found some plastic bins to contain them.

So much more manageable. And pretty.
